Ask Parliament to enact law to bar criminals from polls: Centre to SC

Even as the Supreme Court said the judiciary could not “legislate” to prevent tainted persons from contesting elections, attorney general K K Venugopal suggested that the SC could ask Parliament to enact a law debarring those from polls against whom charges had been framed in heinous crimes.
