Markets close flat, Nifty finishes just under 11,600-mark

The indices held on to the gains on Thursday even as Asian cues turned negative after US and China escalated tariffs on each other. The Nifty in fact went past the 11,600-mark for the first time and hit an all-time high of 11,620.70 in intra-day trade.
