Can’t laugh, sing: Archaic rules dehumanise jails

Government’s ‘Women in Prisons’ report seeks “dignity for inmates” and draws attention to archaic “rules” that are denying prisoners basic human dignity. It cites some of these rules like the ones which require prisoners to abstain from singing or laughing, or which make it an offence to refuse to eat food.
